ABOUT PAUL CREEDEN ARCHIVED

This archive of over 2,200 blog entries (essays) contains my writing from December 8, 2005 (coincidentally the Feast of the Immaculate Conception) to April 30, 2017 (coincidentally the birthday of a very good friend). I haven't taken any pains to divide the two blogs, "Buddha's Pillow" and "The Practical Humanist". They represent my perspectives from ages 55 to 67.

I began blogging and publishing drawings on line in 1998. My first place on line was called "Paul On The Ball" in reference to the "World" in "World Wide Web". That publication morphed into paulcreeden.com when I purchased a domain. I published five serialized novels and many short stories at that domain over four years. Later, paulcreeden.com was hijacked by purveyors of raunchy porn in South Carolina. They used my domain to market their products unknown by me for about six months. When I discovered the breach in security at my I.P.P., I closed the site down. Unfortunately, the daily content of several years could not be easily exported. So much was lost.

Things have changed a lot in two decades. I have changed a lot in two decades too. Managing huge amounts of data has become much easier. Life itself has not.

I am a retired registered nurse (R.N.) with a bachelor's degree in cellular biology. My education for seven years was strongly guided by Jesuits, to whom I will always attribute my awakening to a skeptical view of most things in this world. I am a master of survival, after living with HIV for 34 years and cancer for 15 years. Perhaps I will earn doctoral status in living by the time I have aged and progressed through the experience of dying. If you denote cynicism about academic badges of superiority, you are paying attention.

I am too earthbound to be like Jordan B. Peterson or Yuval Noah Harari. men whom I respect for their brilliance. Yet I am too educated by life to be like Milo Yiannopoulos or Dan Savage, man-boys who have not yet grown up.  I agree strongly with Buddhist values as found in Western translations of the "Dhammapada". That core wisdom echoes the finest transmitted precepts of Western thought based as far back as Zoroaster (Zarathustra), in my opinion. And, it is likely they have the same prehistoric roots. The proactive, responsible and truthful human being is most likely to gain enlightenment.

I enjoy criticism and commentary on my work. The archive is searchable as well. So, if you are inclined, browse around and get in touch. Peace.
