APPEASEMENT IS NOT COMPASSION
Well meaning Liberals went off the rails when they began to confuse appeasement with compassion. They thought appeasing the radicals on The Left would help them maintain the power to force the Liberal agenda, an admittedly humanitarian agenda. They confused appeasement with compassion for those they saw as oppressed minorities. And, in trying to appease, they succumbed to the dysfunction which plagued those they sought to accommodate.
The negative consequences escalated with the Black Lives Matter movement which occurred in the waning years of the Obama Presidency. And that was no coincidence. Obama began his Presidency with appeasement in the Muslim World. He then let his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, off the leash to pursue appeasement everywhere. That appeasement was purely good for business from the Clinton perspective. The Clinton Foundation has flourished in the hole-patching world of corrupt international NGO's.
The domestic do-nothing Obama Presidency was also a form of appeasement. It seems he took his Nobel Peace Prize as a ticket to do little to quell discord, racism and corporate corruption in the U.S.. If he was the model peacemaker, why is this post-Obama America in vitriolic turmoil? He simply wasn't. And his Attorney General recently summed up the Obama legacy when he suggested that America was never great.
Appeasement was embraced by White Liberals, intimidated as always by minority rage. Police departments were given the message that they should not do policing. Schools were given the message that they should not raise children with basic common sense about identity, appropriate public behavior and personal integrity. Border agents were told the borders they guard for the nation's safety are an evil fiction.
Is there any wonder that the social fabric of America is torn?
The debate over free speech is a symptom of the conflict between the appeasers and the truly compassionate. Honest speech is how a person who is insane learns that his behavior is inappropriate or non-constructive. Correcting inappropriate social behavior is compassionate. Unless a person who is obnoxious is informed of the effects of his behavior on his environment, he will have no incentive to change it for his own benefit and society's.
The sudden intrusiveness of The Left into personal identity as a weapon is symptomatic of desperation. The same people who relentlessly insult the elected POTUS scream for immunity from criticism by seeking to criminalize speech. This is overt mental illness on a massive group scale. And it will not be treated appropriately by being silent or trying to appease it. I know this from my clinical experience as a psychiatric nurse.
The sciences, like behavioral psychology, are being undermined in an attempt to prevent any compassionate interventions against the mass insanity being promoted by cynical cult leaders. Cult leaders, no matter what their brand, always pursue their own interests at the expense of their mesmerized and vulnerable followers.
Jim Jones has been reincarnated many times over in the Black culture, the LGBTQ+ culture, the American Muslim culture and the Leftist-feminist culture. The many cults of identity that have arisen on the Far Left are absolutely identical to those on the Far Right. There is little behavioral difference between the KKK and Antifa. Both are anarchic mobs who threaten public safety from behind disguises.
The forerunners of the Nazis, favorite bogeymen of The Left, exploited appeasement in the weakened Weimar Republic. That republic, like America today, was suffering from a loss of national pride after being defeated in WWI. Eviscerating national pride is a proven weapon of anarchists who wish to take over power. The German nation was so demoralized that the Fascists were able to exploit its appeasement of their bullying tactics to take power.
America as a nation was left demoralized by the 2008 Financial Crisis and the subsequent Obama Presidency. Hope and change had been sold to the nation in 2008. Neither had been delivered by 2016. If they had, the political unrest of today would not threaten the stability of our communities, our schools and our health care delivery systems.
Perhaps Donald Trump's greatest contribution to The Presidency is his abandonment of shallow appeasement of the forces which seek to destroy our sense of being united Americans. While M.A.G.A. continues to be intentionally misinterpreted by those who wish to destroy the ideals of American liberty and individual initiative, President Trump stands against them as the representative of a majority of Americans who appreciate our unique nation for what it has represented to the rest of the world.
Appeasing those who would destroy the best aspects of our American culture, based in common sense and individual mobility in society, would be a great mistake. They try to represent themselves as morally superior as they persecute those who wish to speak freely. Appeasing their lust for mind control over others is not compassionate. It is not compassionate toward those who can think for themselves. It is not compassionate toward those who cannot think for themselves either.
