WHO ARE THE BULLIES?

If you are a self-righteous prig of the Progressive variety, read no further unless you don't mind being called out for who you really are or for how you are being manipulated.

The current wave of conformist opinions in North America and Western Europe is a strangling hypocrisy. These opinions, rigorously jammed down the throats of anyone who can read and has access to the internet, are formulated and enforced by tech industry editors and their peons. They are not democratic opinions. Quite the contrary.

My hypothesis is this: The loser nerds who were bullied by jocks in their adolescence are now getting their revenge on a culture-wide level. Code is power.

These somewhat anti-social cubicle dwellers have adopted the avatar-like identity of knights against the old social dragons of days gone by: Racism, Homophobia, Sexism, Ethnocentrism, etc.. Their virtual-focused existence, at work and at home, has led to a distorted sense of righteous power over civilization. If code rules, traditional hierarchies, like humanities and natural sciences, are no longer relevant to achieving power.

They have resurrected Monsters of Hate in order to defeat them keystroke by keystroke. They find them everywhere, like Pokemon or the ghouls which haunt the halls of Hogwarts. Sometimes it takes twisting what is actually said by someone into an unintended nuance, but the public slap-down is worth more than truth to them. Perhaps they gather points which are redeemable at the next Star Trek convention.

The nerds in lock-step are now the bullies. Just watch Huffington Post Live, and you'll get the gist.

Why is the Entertainment Industry allied with these vengeful nerds? The answer is simple. The Entertainment Industry, which is a high-stakes game, is as reliant on these keyboard bullies as the IT Industry. Algorithms determine target audience, production costs, returns on production, etc.. It isn't just about the CGI. Singers rely on techies in a similar way to enhance, market and turn songs into video bait for consumers.

Television has always been reliant on engineers, but today's Information Industry relies on an army of techies to garner information and stream it faster than anyone else. And the quality of that streaming is maintained by another army of techies.

What I am saying is there has been a quiet cultural revolution, marked by keyboard taps and mouse clicks, instead of explosions. This is generally being ignored, because it is buried within the technology we have so rapidly become addicted to. The technology which will soon run everything.

These technocrats are not unlike the Red Guard who ran through China's cities and villages, rummaging for any sign of counter-revolutionary activity. Like the Red Guard, these techno mobs publicly shame those who are found to be "racist", "homophobic", "transphobic", and so on. It doesn't matter that the charges may be exaggerated or fabricated. At the top of their game are the Maos and Stalins, the techno billionaires, accountable to no one. They are the gods techie bullies worship and seek to please.
