STRAIGHT PRIDE? WHY NOT?

There's been a strange reaction among some insecure LGBTQIA fanatics to a series of planned urban "pride" marches for heterosexual men (and, presumably, their loved ones). The outcry is typically knee-jerk. Mouths open; brains in reverse. 

This seems symptomatic of an epidemic of narcissism among those who demand respect which they are unwilling to earn. It would serve homosexuals well to take in the reality that the vast majority of the human population is currently heterosexual or bisexual by inclination. What might trouble us more than Straight Pride is the realization that that huge majority may now be feeling increasingly disrespected by the LGBTQIA radical establishment. 

This does not bode well. The solution is not disrespecting heterosexuals more vehemently by mocking them for wanting their own parade. The solution lies in reflecting on the screaming excesses of the LGBTQIA establishment which led to this trend.

The refusal of socially integrated gay men to stand up against the appropriation of the Gay Rights Movement by those who ally more strongly with the socially dysfunctional has led to an LGBTQIA establishment which no longer represents them. By surrendering to these extremists, who are anti-science and pro-censorship among other regressive characteristics, socially integrated gay men have lost ground in their battle for respect in general society, despite their gains in legislated rights.

The rationality of the few conservative gay men in mass media is muted by the shameless ignorance of many in the LGBTQIA establishment. The latter gain screen time easily. The vastly heterosexaul audiences can cope with the equation of Queer=Crazy. Wild-eyed LGBTQIA extremists make great click bait. After all, charging public admission to Bedlam Royal Hospital was a profitable scheme as far back as the 16th century. 

When faced with an intelligent gay man or lesbian woman who can address injustice rationally, heterosexuals often feel shamed or sympathetic. Being screamed at by angry clowns just evokes dismissable memories of the circus. Watching it safely on a screen invites amused derision. Steven Crowder's large audience on YouTube supports this hypothesis.

There are ample reasons for White straight men to feel attacked in today's media-centered environment. I would never argue that they do not experience a certain amount of privilege in environments which are dominated by White men with authority. 

Of course they do. But so do heterosexual men of color when they become successful. And so do heterosexual women of all shades when they become successful or display an infant. So what? As Jordan Peterson repeatedly asserts, hierarchies are just part of the human brain's social programming. 

The singling out of White heterosexual men as the common cause of all the world's shortcomings is plainly idiotic. White heterosexual men have been behind most of the modern global advancements for humanity which have benefited all of us. Edison, Einstein, Eisenhower, to name a few. 

Arguing that there has been an historical oppression of all people of difference everywhere is also plainly idiotic. If that were so, how would one explain Michelangelo, DaVinci, Turing, Alexander the Great, Whitman, Wilde, and the rest, whose reputations and accomplishments have survived heterosexual editing of history.

What intelligent and socially integrated gay men can do now is obvious. The recent legislation of gay rights can be used by gay men to live the kind of stable lives that foster the development of genius and acknowledged social contribution. In other words, gay men today can write themselves into the history of the future by achieving great things.

Dressing up bizarrely, acting the queen or subjecting oneself to surgical mutilation simply feed the ancient belittling of gay men by heterosexual bigots and self-loathing homosexuals. The LGBTQIA establishment is actually giving those haters exactly what they want, despite the pyrrhic victories of occasional mob shamings of entertainers. Those shamings belie the weakness of those who cannot rationally defend themselves. 

Rather than shout down the wish of some heterosexuals for Straight Pride, socially integrated gay men should support this imitation of their better history as a high form of compliment. Straight Pride is a reaction against the fanatic LGBTQIA establishment. And that is a good thing for intelligent and liberated gay men with self-respect who can make their way in the world without it.
