MEDICAL TOTALITARIANISM?
+++++
The events of the past months have been jarring. A worldwide governmental crisis intervention justified by a submicroscopic biological agent (virus) has crashed economies and cultures. In the USA, our steadfast Constitutional belief in free association and freedom of speech has been severely challenged by a fear campaign waged relentlessly in public media of all kinds.
Communicable disease was once taken for granted as a fact of life. Now a virus is portrayed as a hostile force, compared to an invading army by men in uniform from podiums on TV. It has been anthropomorphized ... endowed with that very human intention to attack and kill.
We are increasingly seeing ourselves at odds with Nature at a time when we, as an overpopulating, predatory, and opportunistic species, could be seen as the aggressor against Nature. This is truly Orwellian. And the stimulus for this increased anti-Nature campaign comes from one of the most Orwellian nations on Earth, The People's Republic of China.

The most frightening question is this: Are we being intentionally manipulated and assessed for our tolerance of mass control?
If the answer is "yes", then those whom we trust most with our lives in society, medical practitioners and affiliated scientists, are the manipulators in league with political establishments. This is the core of dread at the thought that we are being tested for compliance. The information being given us supports no alternative to that compliance. Comply or potentially die on a respirator.
Had this pandemic not been sourced in China, these thoughts would seem less realistic. Had it not been sourced in Wuhan, host city to Chinese biotech, these thoughts would perhaps seem totally dismissable. Subsequent mollifiers about bat soup, animal-human crossover and peasant-style markets in Wuhan have not made The West less suspicious.
Whatever the real intentions and motivations of the CCP and other governments may be, human beings have been psychologically and behaviorally moved closer to undemocratic conformity by the pandemic's management. Mega-city dwellers more so than any others.
I speak as a survivor of the HIV pandemic, an earlier viral pandemic which was treated quite differently, largely because of HIV's long incubation period (8-10 yrs) and its association with homosexual transmission. While the eruption of AIDS cases today may well have stimulated the same panic as the current virus has, it did not in the 1980s and 1990s. Public response then was based in denial by the heterosexual majority of its susceptibility and a basic scientific understanding that the virus was transmittable through direct contact with bodily fluids. It was not airborne. It was not a "social" disease.

The correlation today seems to be between viral virulence and social disintegration. Avoiding the virulence entails social distancing which results in the decimation of human group activities and endeavors. And human beings have evolved largely due to our increasingly organized social cooperation and/or competition.
We humans are consenting to destroying that which makes us successful as a species, especially when we are manipulated or oppressed by the super-predators among us. We consent to survive. However, that survival comes with deep economic and social costs in the longer term. As a cancer survivor, I am all too familiar with this process. I have sacrificed much of my daily organic functionality to survive by accepting toxic cancer drugs and mutilating radiation treatments.
The ongoing effects of dealing with this pandemic, as it has been dealt with, lie in the hands of our political and technological leaders. Human beings worldwide, for the most part, have bowed to their intelligence and leadership. This in itself has been a milestone in human history. Whether it is a marker of a new age of global human cooperation going forward, or a marker of a rise in human oppression by the few, remains to be seen. The hearts and minds of those currently in control will be revealed eventually.
