THE GLOBAL SOCIAL EXPERIMENT

We have been subjected to the greatest mass social engineering since the Communist Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966-1976).  The internationally coordinated COVID19 lockdowns have trespassed upon the individual freedoms of hundreds of millions in the name of modern public health science. However, the "science" used to rationalize and excuse this experiment in mass control is questionable.

The experiment most likely yielded the results that those who engineered it intended. "Flattening the curve" can be seen as code for "flattening individual freedom and resolve with government propaganda facilitated by news media and social media platforms". The use of an ancient weapon, Fear, worked, as it once worked in whipping up public furor to support unnecessary and unjustified wars against Afghanistan and Iraq. 

Yes. The success of post-911 militarism paved the way for lockdowns and global financial ruin. Karma? Perhaps. After all, the USA has been converted in under 50 years from a nation of peace demonstrators in hundreds of thousands in all major cities to a country of flag-waving militarists who robotically spout "Thank you for your service." when meeting a military veteran of any stripe. 

And what of the "heroes" of the great socialist experiment? Well, like the "heroes" of the military who are trained for and paid for a violent social task, medical workers have joined the ranks of those praised for simply doing what they have been trained for and paid for. The all-too-mundane task of soldiers killing people halfway around the world  in the name of defending "freedom" is parallel to the all-too-mundane task of caring for sick people during a not-so-unusual viral outbreak. And I say this as a retired registered nurse who cared for the sick for two decades.

None of us signed up for this global social experiment. We simply found ourselves listening to world leaders, streamed through every possible media funnel, suggesting that millions would die if we did not do what they said. Politically enhanced medical "experts" stood nearby nodding gravely. Staggering threats of mass annihilation were presented as "models of what could happen". Charts were flashed. Preachy doctors in suits or designer scarves predicted disaster and then qualified each of their own predictions, like weathermen of an earlier time. "Well, the hurricane could hit us...or not." 

In the USA, a confused population, staggering from impeachment, Leftist media propaganda (of institutional sexism, homophobia and racism), and mass shootings, finally had a seemingly rational object upon which to focus all their anxiety and mistrust. After all, you can always hate a virus. You can freely kill a virus. You can focus all your venomous feelings of impotence upon a virus. After all, it is the "healthy" thing to do. It is a virtuous "war". It's something "we can all" get behind. 

Governments and their media allies were so enthusiastically focused on their new control over their populations that they neglected to actually protect those most vulnerable to the virus. It ripped through nursing homes and senior communities around the globe. Why? No masks, no testing, no pre-admittance fever checks of visitors or staff. While the healthy young public scrambled to adorn their faces with masks, since none were on offer in pharmacies or supermarkets, the elderly dropped like flies, in relative silence. 

Protecting those octogenarians was never the point of this global social experiment, was it?

The experiment has succeeded in crushing what remained of the so-called middle class in the USA. One might suspect the global elite to be gratified by this, despite their appearance in media. After all, much of the labor force has been made redundant by the technology many of the elite have invested heavily in. Now government can take their dead weight by supporting them on subsistence wages. The cream of the unemployed crop of nearly 40 million in the USA can be cherry picked as needed. 

What an effective way to decimate unions and make even the more desirable grovel for work! After all, the stock exchanges and banks haven't crashed (yet). Those with equity are afloat on a tide of digital money, raining down out of thin air as needed. The discontented have-nots can be ghosted in social media with the tap of a key. The Orwellian is now truly the present. 

The long term results of  "successful" experiments tend to be rather unpredictable. Ask the ghost of Marie Curie. I do believe this experiment will be no exception. A disenfranchised population will eventually catch on to the lack of true "safety" in walking around in a paisley face mask with the self-satisfied demeanor of a social justice warrior. Rent must be paid. Food must be paid for. Addictions are expensive as well. 

Revolutions, like the aforementioned Cultural Revolution, are the results of failed experiments. The USSR was the mother of all failed social experiments. Organized religion of various stripes has proven a failed experiment in enforcing morality upon individuals without adequate education in civilized behavior. I have to believe this global experiment in mass control will also fail, especially in the USA. Perhaps my belief is bolstered by the fact that gun sales in the USA exploded at the outset of lockdowns. Yes. Cause and effect will most likely prove the way of things once again.
