DEFUND THE CRIMINALS.
Our social structures have been turned over in the past six months. The Federal Government and our medical establishments tore down our social cohesion as a nation with their severe bungling of COVID-19 management. Dividing us physically and making us all anonymous behind masks have had obvious negative results. Depriving people of work, group socialization and learning has been disastrous.
The pandemic has been treated as biological warfare, despite denials that it is an engineered Chinese viral weapon. WHO would be the likely arbiter of truth about this if its officials weren't possibly bribed by the Chinese Communist Party. Our own CDC in the US rallied behind Dr. Anthony Fauci, a man who was notoriously unloved by many AIDS activists during that pandemic.
Fauci's dictatorial style became more and more wishy-washy as his lockdown recommendations were revealed by statistics to have been excessive and misdirected. Old populations suffered while young populations bore the social and economic brunt of CDC's miscalculations.
The explosion of self-righteous rage over the broadcasted death of a murdered drug addict by a corrupt police associate in Minneapolis had little basis in statistical reality. Policemen are not systematically hunting down and murdering Black men everywhere, like the white-sheeted criminals of the Deep South's post-Reconstruction history. This dreadful fantasy is most likely a valid form of mass PTSD in some American Black communities. Understandable.
But what of the PTSD of Black-on-Black criminality? Some poor Black communities are terrorized by drug gangs. Decent citizens are deprived of their right to peace and safety, not by police, but by a culture of frightened silence. The "snitch" stigma can lead to violence or death, if a Black citizen appeals to police intervention or offers witness testimony to a crime. Is this the fault of police? Or is this the fault of a systematic array of ministers, lawyers, social workers and civil-rights non-profiteers who cry "abuse" whenever police diligently target crime in Black neighborhoods.
Unlike many White Americans, I spent several of my younger years living in predominantly Black neighborhoods. I was relatively poor and chose to live in those neighborhoods for the same economic reasons my Black neighbors did. My home was burgled twice. I was verbally harassed by the more criminal elements. I once had a home invasion during a dinner party. The police repeatedly searched the back alley for the perpetrators of crime at the city hospital nearby. Gun shots were fired every weekend at the corner where four Black bars were located.
Would defunding police make this situation better for residents in inner city Black neighborhoods? Of course not. But many affluent Americans would cynically follow political correctness and support it. After all, their neighborhoods would not necessarily be worsened. At least, that is their assumption.
Defunding criminals seems a much more effective way to reduce crime for everyone equally.
If all Americans committed themselves to not using illicit drugs of any kind, social justice would experience a surge unknown in this country. If all Americans significantly reduced alcohol intake and committed to helping alcoholics they know into recovery, crime rates would plummet. If all political activists committed themselves unequivocally to non-violence and policed their own peer groups against violent behaviors, civil protest and policing would never collide.
Let's defund non-profiteers and spokespersons who defend violence or criminal behavior. Let's defund gangster rap artists. Let's defund computer games that are based on the hormonal addiction to destruction and violence. Let's raise the penalties for police corruption. Let's raise the penalties for corrupt politicians. Let's defund educational systems which do not strictly punish crime and violence by students. In fact, let's defund educational institutions which fail to teach all students how to read, do basic math and/or learn a trade at the same competitive level, regardless of race.
Marching in the streets peacefully for a just cause has its merits, but those merits are erased by violence and looting when they are associated with it. Defaming all police personnel is simply projection by those who are too cowardly to intercede against crime and violence themselves. If you have never faced criminal violence straight on, as I have, you simply know nothing about it. Best you shut up and garner some life experience before dictating a solution to those who risk themselves for their communities. Start by defunding crime and violence in your own life.
