CAUSE AND EFFECT. CHOICE AND RESPONSIBILITY.

We are living in a time when popularity is a more valuable currency than integrity or character. The ruthless trending cycle of our digital media thrives on the tidal nature of popularity. The process of building and destroying icons is big business. Publicists, agents and digital fixers are in high demand. The gloss of the digital face of America hides its inward instability and deep unrest. No wonder Caitlyn Jenner can be taken seriously as a leader in such a society.

It is easy for an individual with inadequate education or world experience to be swept along the trending flood of digital propaganda. There are few skeptics who have themselves established firm enough footing to reach out and pull in those who are being washed along the digital stream and being narcotized by its waters. Cancel culture seeks to loose the anchors and influence of those who resist the stream. Social media moguls will not surrender their grip on culture readily.

Conformity is causal. Whether a person conforms intentionally for personal gain or out of fear, the effect is the same. Conformity is surrender of some portion of individuality. That surrender yields the individual a share of the net results upon the group. Drastic examples of disastrous conformity pepper 20th century history. The mass speculation which fueled 1929 crash of global stock markets. The rise of German, Italian and Japanese Fascism. The rise of Communism and the Soviet State.

Human beings do not readily accept the effect of disastrous conformity. "I was just following orders.", the famous copout of captured Nazi war criminals is an example. Stalinist defenses of their hero, a monster who killed millions with vast fear-driven conformity of the populace. And others.

Conformity is a choice for the capable and intelligent. And the shared effects of that choice are the responsibility of the capable and intelligent.

This leads me to point to the conformity of those who support in silence those who riot, loot and burn property in the name of social justice.

One shared effect of that conformity has been the ascension of Joe Biden to the US Presidency. Another has been the election of a Democrat majority in Congress. President Biden's first term has been a policy disaster in just a matter of months. Illegal migration flows across our Southern borders without vetting. Our energy independence has been hobbled by the shutdown of the Keystone Pipeline. Iran has been emboldened in its international terrorist activities by the Biden Administration's weak stance on Iranian nuclear research and development. Congress has been given free rein to further bankrupt the Federal government by passing legislation filled with pork and unnecessary welfare payments. The Biden CDC has been allowed to waffle about reopening the US economy and restore normalcy to public and commercial spaces.

The choice of the narrow majority to conform to politically correct narratives in the election of 2020 will yield some very serious responsibilities. Fiscally, all Americans will inevitably pay heavily for the Democrat spending binge. They will also pay higher energy prices and higher taxes on that energy. They may also pay with their lives if sufficient cartel operatives and international terrorist penetrate the porous Southern borders.

When middle class welfare is ended, an inevitability, many will find that they no longer are able to return to their good jobs. The hiatus in workplace provision by large companies has given them an opportunity to go remote and digital to a greater degree. This enables the cutting of superfluous staff and infrastructure to house that staff. And, one effect of the riotous social justice onslaught will be to narrow opportunity for the majority in favor of minorities.

I can put this final effect another way. Breast-beating oneself for one's White Privilege as a conformist act to avoid Cancel Culture reaction in social media may well prove to have been fiscally masochistic for many in the majority.

The Leftist Pro-Choice politics of a previous era have vanished. The Left has rediscovered the power of riots and arson, age-old tools of their former revolutions. However, The Left has still failed to learn the basic lesson of cause and effect as it pertains to those violent tools which secure them temporary ends with little concern about the means. After more than fifty years of riots and arson, the neighborhoods which fuel the rioting and arson are just as deadly and violent as ever.

Today's Left, as represented by the contemporary Democrat party, is not about choice and certainly not about individual responsibility. It is the movement of mobsters and violent ideologues. It is the movement of dictatorial group-think over individual freedom of thought and speech.

Time's tides wash the beaches of human social trends clean in regular cycles. What seems constructed as permanent and insoluble is eroded and pulled under. These constructs have not yet subdued the individual quest for freedom and discovery. That individual quest is honored throughout time by its success at enhancing the human social experience. Those who tear down peace and freedom in the name of ideology are scorned and largely forgotten.
